All Good Things Are Wild & Free

Embodied Rewilding

Welcome. If you’ve found me, you probably know something is deeply wrong with this culture. You might not know what it is, but you can feel it, sense it. You see the dominant responses to the crisis and know there must be a saner way.

I’m here to let you know you are right. There is.

My thesis is that the Great Unraveling of our socioecological systems is rooted in domestication and extractivism and the way forward is through the “3 Rs” of human rewilding - Rebelling, Reskilling, and Re-Membering. Rebelling against a culture hellbent on leading our species to extinction. Reskilling in ancient lifeways that reduce dependency and increase adaptability. Re-Membering ourselves back amongst our more-than-human kin.

Together, we can wake from this psychosis, liberate ourselves from captivity, break cycles of cultural trauma, come back to our senses, and re-embed ourselves in the earth community.

In essence, we can re-embody and rewild.

About Me

Greetings. I’m Michael Lynn Wellman.

I’m a husband, father, companion, water protector, land tender, edge walker, outdoor professional, guardian of the wild, and doctor of rewilding.

The primary through-thread on my journey has been my love for the earth body, and especially moving my body intimately in rhythm with the earth’s body. I especially love mountains and islands, climbing and skiing, and all forms of locomotion through wild spaces.

I specialize in accessing wildness through practices ranging from outdoor adventure, movement, and deep nature connection to entheogens, eroticism, and other expanded states. The long arc of my work is welcoming in a rewilding futurism in which regenerative place-based subsistence lifeways become the cultural norm once again.

I hold a PhD in Ecology, Spirituality, and Religion from the California Institute of Integral Studies, as well as an MA in Outdoor Leadership and an MBA. I am a certified wilderness first responder and have numerous trainings in my fields of study including as a Consciousness Medicine guide, a Work That Reconnects facilitator, a RYT-200 yoga instructor, and a LEED accredited professional.

In loving memory of my elder teacher Joanna Macy, who transitioned in July 2025 at the age of 96

I am moved so deeply. What you have done, Michael Lynn Wellman, is such a gift to our species, to our world. The courage and ornery kind of originality displayed in your love for life and your fearlessness to listen to what you want... You let that deep root grounded imagination declare itself to you. So I moved so deeply and so glad to be around while you shine a light into the darkness around us.”
